It's been EXCITING!

Roundabout Youth Theatre attended the National Association of Youth Drama’s New Stage 2011 readings at The Peacock Theatre on Saturday 20th November 2010. R.Y.T. were asked to read extracts from two new plays, Trapped By Fear by Aisling O’Leary & A Family Affair by Lisa Sherin. Both of these new plays were written by young people participating in TENDERFOOT. TENDERFOOT is an excellent youth arts programme based on an apprenticeship model at The Civic Theatre, Tallaght that provides young people with an opportunity to learn about theatre in a hands-on way. Learn by doing. Learn by working alongside experts in their field.

As a result of preparing for the New Stage readings and exploring these new plays, R.Y.T’ers shifted their programme plan to work on performing these plays for LIFT 2011. They enjoyed preparing for the reading so much that decided to concentrate on them instead of their planned new devised work.

RYT read short extracts at The Peacock; following this the group worked on these extracts and brought them to presentation level for The Reco’s Pick ‘n Mix Arts Extravaganza at The Axis on Sunday 12th December 2010.

We’re all looking forward to starting proper work on these great plays when R.Y.T. comes back in January 2011!
